Everything for the gram! That’s what I say when I take a couple of photos, in front of too many people, looking like a complete idiot most of the time. Before I travel, I use Google to look for any Instagram hotspots in the city. Having spent a week in Chiang Mai in the Nimman area, I can honestly say that Chiang Mai is very instagrammable! So, here it is. The top 5 Instagram café hotspots in Chiang Mai.
This small cafe and hotel are absolutely Instagram worthy! If you’re all about a white theme or white, bright photos, this place is like Disneyland for you. The interior is white, some grey and beautiful marble tables. Everywhere is the right spot to take a photo. Even the coffee is pretty and delicious! This cafe is perfect for a good cup of coffee or a refreshing cold drink (love their coconut juice) with a delightful piece of pie. More ‘instagrammable’ then this will be hard to find.
Not only is this hotel a great co-working space it’s also perfect for Instagram. The hotel has a modern black and white design with a pool. The front of the hotel is ideal for photo’s, but the pool area is even better. The large black doors, the white walls, and the blue pool create a beautiful and timeless setting for your photo’s. For 200 bath you can use the co-working space inside, get a drink and use the pool for the entire day. If you only want to take some photo’s around the pool, order a drink, and it should be fine.
[Update October 2019] The Frose Yoghurt Cafe has had a change in interior! Less pink, less flamingo’s but still cute, beautiful and instagrammable! Besides yoghurt, coffees and soda’s, they also have cocktails and food on the menu. It makes it a great spot for some afternoon cocktails! I actually like the new interior better than the old one. It has salmon pink combined with green and wood brown. There are picknick tables outside for you to relax with a pretty drink, before shooting away.
This frozen yoghurt cafe is the cutest! The interior works really well if you’re all into a pink or colourful Instagram feed. Besides all the pink, there are also flamingo’s, fluffy cushions and neon light signs. Even the yoghurts and the drinks are suitable for Instagram. They are colourful, cute, pretty and delicious. Refresh yourself on a hot day with some frozen yoghurt, a cool drink (my favourite is the mango coconut bubble) or a pink soda with a flamingo on top and shoot some awesome photos before you leave.
[Update October 2019] Unfortunately this gelato shop is closed. Go to number 5 to see the new number 4 😁
Rosélate serves gelato. I love the play on the name! This ice cream shop also falls under the category colourful spots in Chiang Mai. Their interior is white and teal blue which will work perfectly with a colourful, white or cool toned Instagram theme. Their gelato is made fresh every day using only natural ingredients. But, the best part is that it’s served in the shape of a rose. That is absolutely worth a spot in the top 5 of Instagram hotspots in Chiang Mai.
First of all, this place is not only good for Instagram. They also have a delicious breakfast and lunch menu with smoothie bowls, sandwiches and yummy egg dishes! It’s tucked away between a lot of green and sitting outside gives you the feeling of being in nature. The cafe has an art gallery, therefore the cafe is surrounded by paintings and sculptures. For their interior, they used a lot of beige, green and wood. The combination of their rustic interior, the natural vibe and the art give this place a peaceful and unique feeling. When I was here enjoying my mango smoothie bowl there were so many people taking pictures from their drinks or themselves.
Tropi Hoola is a very small bubble tea bar that’s more like a hole in the wall. However, the outside of the bar is very pretty decorated. The swings (yes you read that right) make this tiny place an instagrammable hotspot in Chiang Mai. Besides bubble tea they also have some cute desserts on their menu. A perfect spot to get a quick bubble tea and take some nice photos on the swing. The turqoise colors from the hut and the straw roof of the bar immediately gives you a ‘surfy’ hawaian feeling, even though the sea is hundreds of kilometers away.
