Look: go to work makeup

Hi guys!

This is a look I am doing every single day when I’m working. It’s easy, simple and quick. As a flight attendant the only things mandatory with our uniform is lipstick/lip gloss and mascara. There is no mandatory shade for the lips, but the color should be a natural color like pink, red or brown. I never use a lip gloss when working because lip glosses are not very long lasting. I’d have to re-apply a lot, which I am too lazy for. Therefore I always wear a lipstick. I have all different kinds of shades and I switch them up every day. On board I do prefer lipsticks that are moisturizing and otherwise I wear a lip balm underneath. My lips tend to get really dry during the day.

When I am doing my eyes I don’t use any eye shadows because I am doing this every day and usually at 4 am in the morning. I don’t want too much hassle. I need to have my makeup done in fifteen minutes. Instead of eye shadows I do blend out my concealer onto my lids and set them with a translucent powder. This way my eyeliner has something to hold on to on my lids. My mascara’s switches probably every couple of months. I always try new ones. But the Maybelline Volume Boost mascara has been the most consistent one.

I think it’s important to look polished in our uniforms, but never with too heavy makeup on. It’s still an office environment and not a runway 😉 Everything should look natural and classy.

Hi Sarah…I think this look is gorgeous and perfect for FA’a. I aspire to be a FA and have been doing all the research I can on many different airlines. I never liked myself in eyeshadow, because my eyes are hooded and shadow seems too heavy on my shaped eye and makes them appear smaller or closed. Kinda defeating the purpose of eye makeup!!!
My light lashes are long, so with mascara that alone has always been enough, making my eyes with a bit of liner “done” enough. BUT…I have developed a recent problem. I seemed to have become severely allergic to many different mascaras in recent months. I have not figured out why, but I will buy a new mascara (even a type that I have used before) and when out and about, my eyes become red irritated and scratchy and I cannot wait to get home to remove it. This is stressing me out, as I know FA’s have long hours and need to look put together for extended periods of time (long flights, departure etc).
The last few times I went out for the evening, I found myself rubbing my eyes, with the sensation something was in them (there wasn’t) and overall…my eyes were in distress and blame red and swollen! I know a full tasteful makeup is a requirement from most airlines (often applied) very early in the morning. Can you tell me if I invest in eyelash extensions, if the look of dark, long curled lashes that extensions provide would be enough? Of course I would use eyeliner with them so they don’t just appear to be naked eyes, with long lashes.
I am inquiring about lashes like this look:

Or would I be expected to use mascara on top of that? I know they are pricey, not in my budget really, but if they last for a bit and I can avoid mascara or falsies it would be a worthwhile investment. I am all thumbs with falsies…especially early in the a.m, they take me a LONG time and several attempts to apply even when I have plenty of time and FA’s cannot afford to be late!
Please reply I am really stressing over this new issue I am having even with sensitive formulas.
    Thank you,
    Chess

Sorry Sarah, I thought I was providing a link to a pic of extensions I had no idea it would post the pic or blow it up that large!
