Review: Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

Hi guys!

A review on this new product. I have been using this product for a couple of weeks now. I would like to give you my opinion on how this shampoo and conditioner is working out for me. If you have read my post about my hair here. You will know that I was using the Gliss Kur Ultimate Repair Shampoo & Conditioner. I was using that product for almost six months. I did like the product but I wasn’t blown away by it. So it was time to switch it up.

I saw the commercial on the Dove shampoo on TV and it caught my attention. Yes, I need volume! Yes, I need moisture! The Oxygen Moisture Shampoo comes from the Dove Advanced Hair Series. This line particularly is for fine and flat hair. Which suits my hair perfectly.

The promise:

Dove Oxygen & Moisture with Oxyfusion Technology has been specifically selected to add hair volume for fine, flat hair. Oxygen & Moisture shampoo, conditioner and finishing products are pumped with Oxyfusion Technology, a new generation of moisture. This system moisturises fine, flat hair, giving you hair volume. Breathe life back into your hair with Dove Oxygen & Moisture.

Well. I was sold. I was in Germany a couple of weeks ago and I bought the shampoo and the conditioner. I have never tried hair products of Dove in my life, so I was really curious. Both the shampoo and the conditioner are sold for €4.95 each.

The shampoo is a translucent gel and the smell is really nice and fresh. I do have to wash my hair twice. The second time the shampoo lathers quite good. I do have a clean and fresh feeling afterwards, but my hair does feel a bit coarse.

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Citric Acid, Dimethiconol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Laureth-23, Parfum, PPG-12, TEA-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Sodium Benzoate, Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool, CI 17200, CI 42090.

The conditioner has the same smell and is a thick creamy white lotion. I added a good amount of the product into my hair concentrating on the roots. Left it in on my hair for a couple of minutes while I brush my teeth, scrub and wash my face. After rinsing out the conditioner, my hair does feel softer than before. But this conditioner doesn’t leave my hair super soft like other hair conditioners I’ve used. Other hair conditioners kind of leave like a smooth silky layer on your hair.

Ingredients: Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Amodimethicone, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Dimethicone, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Parfum, PEG-180M, PEG-7 Propylheptyl Ether, Silica, Sodium Chloride, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool.

After I let my hair air dry I did notice a more bouncy feeling to my hair. I think that this product does give volume which I absolutely love. But I do miss the ultimate moisturized feeling I got from other products. The days after I’ve washed my hair, my hair also looks more frizzy than before. So overall I am not convinced. The product absolutely gives volume but it comes at the expense of being moisturized. Maybe my hair is too dehydrated and it will work for somebody else whose hair is less fragile.

What do you think of this product? Does it work for your hair? Let me know in the comments below!

Love, Sarah
